With its fertile plains, abundant water resources, and diverse climatic conditions, UP produces a wide range of food and agricultural products that contribute significantly to India’s economy and global exports.


Major Agricultural Products of Uttar Pradesh


Rice (Kalanamak Rice)


UP is one of the largest producers of rice in India. The Kalanamak variety, grown in the Siddharthnagar region, is particularly famous for its aroma and nutritional value. This indigenous rice is often compared to Basmati due to its fragrance and superior taste.


Wheat


The state is known as the “Granary of India” due to its massive wheat production. Districts like Kanpur, Meerut, and Allahabad contribute significantly to the wheat supply, making UP a crucial player in India’s food security.


Sugarcane


UP leads the nation in sugarcane production, with districts like Muzaffarnagar, Meerut, and Saharanpur being the top producers. The sugar industry in UP supports thousands of farmers and is a major contributor to the state’s economy.


Pulses & Oilseeds


Chickpeas, pigeon peas, and lentils are widely grown in Bundelkhand and Eastern UP. Mustard and sunflower are also cultivated for oil extraction, supporting both domestic consumption and exports.

Malihabadi Dussehri Mangoes

Allahabadi Guavas


Allahabad produces some of the finest guavas in India. These guavas are known for their unique pink flesh and high nutritional content, making them a healthy and tasty choice.


Mathura Peda


Mathura, the birthplace of Lord Krishna, is renowned for its Peda, a sweet made from khoya (reduced milk) and flavored with cardamom.


Banarasi Paan

Rampur Kesar & Saffron


Rampur is emerging as a key producer of saffron, traditionally grown in Kashmir. The high-quality saffron from this region is gaining popularity for its aroma and medicinal properties.
